I am from the UK and the Government here has just started to take note of the importance of this. They have introduced feed-in tariffs which give money to those who produce their own energy. This is a great concept as it gives incentives for home and business owners to switch to environmentally friendly systems such as an air source heat pumps.

With these new incentives it pays to switch as the initial cost of installation is paid back to you within 10-15 years and with the reduced cost of your heating bills you are still making a profit.

Hopefully that idea will soon be rolled across to the USA as it really is becoming a problem which needs urgent attention.

Great information, thanks!
